Peak District - Edale Loop

Since we have set the dates for West Highland Way 2011, We thought we would go on a nice leisurely walk today in the Peak District with full kit. We loaded the bags with heavy items and headed off towards Edale. The loop we took started at Barber Booth and on towards Jacobs Ladder, Edale Cross, Brown Knoll, Lord's Seat, Mam Tor, Hollins Cross and then down into Edale itself. Obviously we had to make a quick stop for a traditional ale at the Old Nags Head, it would have been rude not to. We then made our way back west towards Barber Booth and it worked out as around 15miles in all.

I was tracking most of the walk with View Ranger and broadcasting my position to Social Hiking. I forgot to turn the feature on until we got to Brown Knoll sadly, I had to fill in the start of the track using google maps nice little drawing tool. While I was wandering over Brown Knoll I decided to have a crafty glance at the Geocaching app and see if we were going to pass by any caches, turns out we were... I set a go to and off we went. We easily found Lift Up Your Eyes - GCWJTF without any problems and carried on along our route. Here are a few pictures taken along the route, I didn't take the Canon 550D today so they were taken on my old Canon A640.
